Yahoo's answer to the Google PageRank is WebRank. The Yahoo WebRank
does not work in the same manner as the Google PageRank, but it works
similar. Yahoo WebRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web (all according to Yahoo!). Yahoo! figures that when one page links to another page someone (probably a web master and/or web editor) has decided "this is a good page, worth linking to" and Yahoos uses this fact in its' algorithms. The more links to a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is linking to your site determines how important the link itself is. The Yahoo WebRank is Yahoos's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Yahoo uses to rank pages, but it is an important one. Other important factors are the page title and the keyword density of the page. |
